Shoebill Print

I'm loving the new wildlife series on BBC1 - Africa with David Attenborough aren't you?

Tonight I see we are going to learn about the nesting habits of the Shoebill - which I am looking forward to especially as I've had quite a soft-spot for these birds for some time.  I adore Shoebills in fact, and to see hitherto unfilmed Shoebill activity in the wild, will be a real treat.

Here's a Shoebill collagraph print I did, whilst in a particularly deep phase of Shoebill fascination!  Let me know if you think I achieved a good likeness!

  1. very nice Jennifer. I love birds as well. In Florida we have such wonderful birds...herons, egrets, spoon bill roseate, wood storks, sand hill crane...they are often big birds and so beautify.

    1. Thankyou - the programme filming was fantastic with superb images of these birds and some pretty tough nature, some hard to watch! The Spoonbill is another of my favourites.

  2. love the textures in your print. Africa is great, felt really bad for the young giraffe that got smacked down by the older fella :( the programme is beautiful though

    1. Phew, it's quite hard watching in parts isn't it, I was very afraid of the outcome for one, or both of the giraffes! Nature can be so hard and ruthless!
